Gettle is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our engineering department. This position will produce the necessary drawings and documents to support the electrical systems installed by our field electricians and technicians. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of three phase electrical systems, motors, and various types of power system calculations. The Electrical Engineer will work along experienced individuals with different areas of expertise on related building codes and standards required to design power systems ranging from complex 15 kV medium voltage three phase feeder circuits to simple 120-volt single phase branch circuits. Consideration will be given to both entry-level and experienced candidates. Most importantly, we are seeking individuals who are interested in electrical construction and have a strong desire to learn new skills that will allow them to progress rapidly through hard work and a strong work ethic. This role will report to the Vice President of Sales and Engineering.

Electrical Engineer | Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review, and/or assist experienced engineering department personnel in the preparation of design drawings and documents to support the electrical systems being installed by our field electricians and technicians.
  • Perform, review, and/or assist experienced engineering department personnel with lighting level calculations, electrical loading and power calculations, voltage drop calculations, etc.
  • Perform, review, and/or assist experienced engineering department personnel with various types of engineering studies including short circuit, overcurrent protection device coordination, and arc flash hazard studies. 
  • Conduct site surveys and data collection of existing electrical systems for which Gettle has been contracted to perform work.
  • Provide technical support to field installation staff.
  • Possess the ability to review contract documents to understand project requirements and obligations.
  • Attend project meetings, as required.
  • Possess the ability to follow directions and work in a safe and professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Electrical Engineer | Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited University.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification or ability to take the exam within 1 year of employment date.
  • Valid driver's license required to travel to job sites or out-of-office meetings.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Must be able to walk long distances and navigate construction sites consisting of uneven terrain, climbing stairs and ladders, and working on elevated platforms as needed for construction site meetings and reviews.
  • Able to work in atmospheric conditions such as extreme cold, heat, humidity, and various weather conditions when working at a customer's facility or active construction site.
  • Must be able lift objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work extended hours on occasions to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Executives, members of engineering departments from other companies, inspectors, vendors, and numerous tradesmen from the construction industry.
  • Follow safety protocols according to company/customer policies, industry regulations, and OSHA/MSHA standards.

Preferred but not required Attributes:

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of power systems analysis software.
  • Knowledge of Blue Beam or Adobe software.
