CRNP

This position is responsible for providing medical assessments and treatment to consumers of Carastar Health Services.

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Responsible for providing services, including the prescription of medication with written protocols, consistent with level of licensure and qualifications. Consults and/or refers to the physician as indicated.

Monitor clients for psychiatric symptoms as well as side effects of medication.

Provide psychiatric and physical assessment, history-taking and differential diagnosis as indicated.

Provide and/or coordinate individual patient crisis services when symptoms arise, as well as management of chronic problems.

Provide prevention -oriented patient education and care as indicated.

Provide other services within scope of training and license as assigned.

Collaborate with supervising physician in accordance with the signed protocol and formulary.

Follow protocols and formularies established by the Alabama Board of Nursing and Medical Board.

Maintain documentation of clinical services in accordance with Carastar Health's policies and procedures, and complete all forms and paperwork required by Carastar.

May provide clinical and administrative supervision to other clinical staff.

Assist with In-Service Training as needed.

Approve treatment plans and case plans of assigned clients.

Make rounds on Inpatient units as needed or assigned. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, consumers, family members and other community agencies.

Willingness to provide services in all Carastar facilities and other locations as deemed appropriate.

Knowledge of evaluation and treatment of psychiatric disorders.

Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention and intervention common to acute psychotic consumers, as well as to non-violent crisis intervention practice.

Knowledge of cultural diversity.

Willingness to review and approve the work of other Carastar staff, as appropriate.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensed to practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner, in the State of Alabama, with collaborative physician and prescriptive authority.

Master's Degree in psychiatric/mental health nursing.

Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that is acceptable to Carastar's insurance carrier. 

Must maintain at least liability coverage on personal vehicles.

Must hold and maintain current CPI and Red Cross First Aid and CPR certificates (provided through agency training).
