Police and Fire Dispatcher

POSITION SUMMARY: The Police & Fire Dispatcher performs effective and responsive telecommunications work in the reception and transmission of 9-1-1 telephone and radio emergency communications for both Police and Fire departments regarding Calls For Services (CFS), and inquiries from the public. The employee is responsible for collecting and evaluating information to determine jurisdiction, equipment, and personnel to be dispatched. The employee utilizes a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. This position works rotating shifts in a 24 hour-a-day, 7 day-a-week operation that includes weekends and holidays. This position works under the direct supervision of the Communications Supervisor and a Police Sergeant, and indirectly to a Police Lieutenant, the Assistant Police Chief, and the Police Chief.

WORK HOURS:       Shift work; Shift may vary 

WORK LOCATION: City of Branson, Missouri; City Hall.  This is an in office position requiring work to be performed onsite. 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:  The starting hourly wage is $20.45 per hour and will increase to $21.27 per hour after 6 months of successful probation.  Please click on this link for compensation/benefits information.

MINIMUM REQUIRED JOB EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING
• A High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• One (1) year of experience of working with the public is required.

MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

* Must be willing to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary to have operations 24 hours a day/7 days a week. 
• Must be able to attend occasional required off-site training.

• Must possess no felony convictions.
• Tattoos, Scarification, Body Art, and Body Modifications must meet City of Branson Employee Appearance at Work policy.

• Must be able to obtain MULES & PST1 certification within six (6)  months of hire date. 
• Must be highly engaged in the department's goals and be able to work cooperatively with Police Department leadership in achieving those goals.
• Must possess a high degree of integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
• Must be able to pass a background investigation and drug and alcohol screenings.
