CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER TEACHER AIDE

JOB SUMMARY:

The Child Development Teacher Aide will assist the Child Development Teacher with the day-to-day operations of Kid’s Corner Child Development Center.  He/she will help implement the IEP established for each child participating in the program.  He/she will follow the directives of the Child Development Teacher Aide.

Non-Exempt Position.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists in implementing the IEP established for each participant in The Arc of Southwest Georgia Child Development Program.

Assists in preparation of daily instructional materials, lesson plans and record keeping.

Maintains daily sanitation of all equipment in all areas of the preschool facility.

Maintains safety and wellbeing of students, both in the classroom and while being transported to and from the preschool site.

Maintains a calm, positive attitude in the classroom and a caring and patient attitude with the children and their families.

Maintains current CPR/1st Aid training as well any other required staff development training.

Promotes and protects consumers’ rights, especially the right to freely make and express preferences in choices regarding their daily living and care, as long as such rights/choices are not detrimental to the consumers’ wellbeing.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:  High school diploma or GED and some experience working with individuals with disabilities.  Must a have a pleasant and congenial attitude with staff, children and children’s families.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

He/she must be friendly, caring and who can communicate well.  He/she must have a personal vehicle and a valid Georgia driver’s license.  He/she must have a working knowledge of The Arc of Southwest Georgia’s Mission and Vision as well as the agency’s programs and services.  He/she must have a knowledge and understanding of the agency’s accreditation process and its value to the organization.

 

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Kids’ Corner Child Development Center provides an academically oriented environment conducive to learning and nurturing.  Also provides an activities environment and an instructional setting in addition to a place to conduct business and personal interviews with children’s’ families and professionals.

 

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

He/She will be supervised by the Kids’ Corner Child Development Center Teacher.

He/she will have no supervisory responsibilities over other employees.
