Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience OR BA/BS Degree

  • Must possess:
  • ? Expert knowledge of federal tree Nurseries and Nursery management and/or
  • silviculture and reforestation practices
  • ? Knowledge of USFS laws and policies pertaining to reforestation and the Working
  • Capital Fund Nursery system
  • ? Expert knowledge of the forest service organization, policies, and mission
  • ? Expert knowledge of their specialized field theories, concepts, and practices
  • ? Skill in communication and interpersonal relations.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, Power Point
  • Nursery Management Information System ? NMIS
Duties:

The individual is considered an expert at a regional or national level in federal nursery management and/or reforestation. The assignment requires superior, independent professional judgement and extensive knowledge of nursery and/or reforestation practices and management.

  • Provides guidance and recommendations for expanding facilities capacity or setting up strike teams.   35%
  • Provides guidance and recommendations for increasing the pipeline of nursery personnel.   30%
  • Provides mentoring to nursery or reforestation practitioners.   25%
  • Supports FMRMVE staff in other related/relevant tasks as needed.   10%

Other:
  • Overnight travel: Possible overnight travel needed to support nursery operations.
  • Rental cars: Possible 5 days total to support nursery system operations. Could also utilize a government vehicle, if available.
  • Health and Safety Considerations: Review of Job Hazard Analysis for the activity at the office and/or nursery location.
  • Physical requirements: Normal ability to sit at a desk/table and participate in virtual meetings via computer. Opportunity for flexible time schedule available.
  • Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
