Position Summary:

The Senior Project Manager at ViaSun is a strategic leadership role and is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of construction projects. The role emphasizes performance management, strategic leadership, resource optimization, talent development, effective communication, and adept change management. Inspiring success in a collaborative environment with Clients, Employee Owners, Vendors, Subcontractors, and construction industry. This role is critical in ensuring that the division achieves its financial and operational goals while maintaining high-quality construction standards and client satisfaction.

Core Responsibilities: 

Project Planning & Execution: 

  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resources, and budgets.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for Project Management, aligning it with the company's overall objectives and goals.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements.
  • Track project performance, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meeting quality and safety standards.
  • Identify growth opportunities, and innovative practices to drive operational excellence.
  • Develop and track KPIs and implement corrective actions to address deviation from planned targets.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and motivate project teams, including on-site staff, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Oversee the management of all construction projects at a high level while allowing the Project Managers to manage the day-to-day activities.
  • Set performance goals, conduct performance reviews, and provide feedback to team members to drive continuous improvement and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Participate and provide guidance and mentoring in recruitment efforts.
  • Ensure that Project Managers have the resources, support, and guidance needed to successfully execute their projects.
  • Address conflicts and resolve disputes amongst team members or with external parties to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Understand how to identify personnel that do not live up to ViaSun's Core Values and address them per ViaSun's policies. 

Client Communication:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong communication and relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Address client concerns and proactively manage expectations with major clients and stakeholders.
  • Provide regular project updates and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with business development teams to secure new projects and expand the division's client base.  

Budget and Cost Management:

  • Oversee project budgets and financials, ensuring cost control and accurate forecasting.
  • Implement strategies for cost savings without compromising quality.
  • Monitor the division's performance and financial health and make adjustments as needed to ensure success and align with division and company goals.
  • Review and approve project-related expenses and invoices. 

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks and challenges that may affect projects and develop strategies to mitigate and address these concerns with the Project Managers.
  • Provide guidance and support for Project Managers in troubleshooting and resolving project-related issues.
  • Ensure that all projects comply with relevant regulations, permits, and environmental standards.
  • Collaborate with insurance teams to manage project risks. 

Qualifications:

  • Experience in driving ESOP growth and fostering a values-driven organizational culture is preferred.
  • 10-15 years of people management and project management experience.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager in the construction industry.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to utilize project management, financial, and estimating software effectively.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AASHTO TSP2, OSHA 10, 30, 500, CPC, PMP, or other Project Management certifications)
