? This position supports the Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program of the National Park Service and may be performed remotely. ? The NPS Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the NPS to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support. ? NPS ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 23 weeks. ? A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date. Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave. ? The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees of the NPS or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under NPS direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out their mission. NPS ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in archival or library position, preferably with government organization. OR BA/BS Degree in Archival Studies or Library Science

  • Knowledge and familiarity with record management systems and Microsoft Office 365 programs
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point
  • Sharepoint, OneDrive
Duties:

Coordinate with NPS Monitors in designing and implementing a records management system for National Park Service records and documents related to multiple Conservation and Recreation Assistance Division programs. This will involve creating a NPS Interior Region 1 (Northeast) file plan according to NPS protocols and developing a system for electronic file storage and management for active use by staff. This work will be accomplished with reference to NPS records management policies and program needs.

  • Working with the NPS RTCA Monitors and staff, assess file management requirements and deficiencies according to NPS and program policies.   20%
  • Design and produce a digital file plan with reference to NPS records management. Ideally the file plan should identify a framework and protocols to manage electronic records with titles, descriptions, retention and storage location.   50%
  • With a file plan in place, assist managers and staff with implementation including collating electronic record and resource information. These files may be stored on a variety of media and Microsoft applications based on current NPS best practices.   20%
  • Organize high priority record files for digitizing for possible transfer to the Federal Records Center based on National Archive Records Administration standards. * This work will need to be accomplished in the Boston office.   10%
