Dessert Holdings is looking for a Category Insights Manager to be located at our corporate headquarters in St. Paul, MN.  This individual is responsible for data management allowing internal key stakeholders to better understand consumer trends and habits. As a Category Insights Manager, you will provide data to the sales and marketing team to support with storytelling capability allowing them to develop a robust category strategy and assortment recommendations to drive growth for the company and retailer's perimeter or frozen bakery category. You will bring exceptional analytical expertise, strategic thinking, and creative problem-solving acumen to deliver sound recommendations that build credibility internally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage custom data base in a fragmented bakery space
• Support marketing to develop a category strategy and comprehensive selling story that drives growth for Dessert Holdings and Retailers, and positions the company's brands and product portfolio attractively with customers
• Identify product assortment opportunities, including maximizing distribution, innovation, and seasonal opportunities; identify SKU rationalization recommendations where needed to maximize sales/profit
• Prepare category reports including national and customer-specific reports and analysis for regular reviews with marketing, sales, key customers, and Board of Directors
• Manage communication with the sales leaders and customers, driving deep understanding of the insights
• Perform competitive reviews and new item performance deep-dives to understand how items perform compared to Dessert Holdings items and identify opportunities
• Lead data integrity and mapping of core database tools
• Perform deep dive analysis of the Top 5 Customers' category with key strategic opportunities identified and deliver a compelling selling story to the retailer which expands distribution on gold skus, innovation and seasonal opportunities for Dessert Holdings
• Ensure utilization of category management tools and reporting across sales and marketing teams

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or related field
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in a Category Management role or directly supporting sales or marketing in a highly analytical manner. Food industry experience preferred.
• Excellent IRI skills required
• Ability to effectively manage the function at both a strategic and functional/tactical level
• Excellent analytical skills & attention to detail, with ability to perform multiple types of analysis efficiently
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to drive influence with internal and external partners
• Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritize and plan work activities effectively, including setting goals, timelines and objectives, and align work with strategic goals of the company
• Be willing and excited to travel and present findings to customers to drive growth opportunities
• Demonstrated computer proficiency with the ability to navigate technical databases & various software
