The Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Agricultural support for individuals aged 55 and over to support the Department of Agriculture?s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through a grant administered program awarded to National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise, and experience will truly be valued. The ACES program provides an opportunity to work side-by-side with NRCS staff that are doing important work every day. Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience in surveying, drafting, construction inspection, and conservation practice design. OR BA/BS Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management

  • Valid State Driver's License.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • AutoCAD and Surveying
Duties:

Assigned to the State Conservation Engineer to assist with Farm Bill Program Contracts, perform engineering surveys, conservation practice design, and practice installation checkout.

  • Visit construction sites as directed. Performs engineering surveys, and monitors construction sites including but not limited to verifying construction layout activities, clearing and grubbing, structure removal, excavation, earth fill, pipe installation, vegetative measures, pest management installation, and checking elevation and grades to ensure that all practices are installed according to design. Collects information to develop engineering designs. Completes lower approval class designs (under the direction of the area engineer) layout designs in the field, monitors installation, and certifies to District Conservationist or Area Engineer that installation meets NRCS standards & specifications.   70%
  • Office work for asbuilt and other documentation. Completes practice certification documentation in accordance with practice standards and specifications and all NRCS policies and procedures. Prepares asbuilt drawings and notes for review by the DC/Ag Engineer. Promotes Farm Bill Programs. Complies with all training requirements to maintain computer access 20 and other requirements of the position.   20%
  • Assist NRCS by providing needed training and assistance.   10%

  • Annual information system security, anti-harassment, and civil rights training.
  • Travel Requirements: Travel to local office and construction sites.
  • Overnight travel: Up to 5 days per week for 6 months.
  • Required Safety Gear: Hard Hat and Safety Vests will be used while at construction sites.
  • Remote work arrangements are available for this position.
