Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in Civil Engineering, Natural Resources, Forestry, Land Management, Agriculture, Agronomy, Watershed or related OR BA/BS Degree in Civil Engineering, Natural Resources, Forestry, Land Management, Agriculture, Agronomy or related.

  • Valid State Driver?s license.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
  • NRCS Software
Duties:

Assist the watershed programs staff with natural disaster recovery to provide healthy, diverse, and resilient ecological systems to minimize severe erosion and property damage, especially in critical watersheds. Provide project engineering and task management support; provide technical expertise, manage complex technical project planning, coordination, and training. Work is primarily performed in environments where natural disasters have occurred. Work may require traversing steep terrain with prolonged standing, walking over uneven ground, and exposure to weather element conditions. Conditions are not in ?active? disaster status, however, there may be areas that are considered ?active? and could present risk. Any required PPE is provided and must be worn while working in these areas.

  • Assist with project engineering in the restoration of native vegetation and ecosystems and other project engineering duties assigned.   20%
  • Provide support to NRCS staff in managing construction projects. Coordinate with local project sponsors to aid in managing construction project schedules.   20%
  • Provide guidance on Watershed Programs NEPA, Plans, reviews, and assessments. Conducts analyses of issues associated with ecological and watershed policies, synthesizes data and information and provides advice and recommendations on critical EWP and natural disaster issues.   20%
  • Assists in controlling erosion of the land and preventing residue from moving downstream filling reservoirs and putting endangered species and community water supplies at risk.   20%
  • Assist in restoring ecological systems, stabilizing land, minimizing flooding, and ensuring water quality.   20%

  • Annual information system security, anti-harassment, and civil rights training.
  • Travel Requirements: Travel to and from the State where natural disaster occurred, lodging and per diem paid through the NRCS agreement
  • Overnight travel: Assignment dictates the position must be on site for a period of time and will vary.
  • Air travel anticipated: Travel to and from the State where natural disaster occurred, approximately once each 30 days
  • Rental cars: Position will travel with NRCS employees in a GOV.
