POSITION TITLE:     Buyer Pilot Shop

STATUS:                   Exempt

REPORTS TO:         Pilot Shop Manager

OBJECTIVE:            Replenish Banyan Pilot Shop inventory within company procedures and objectives maintaining appropriate stock levels. Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors. Assist in efforts to find new and unique products for Banyan Pilot Shop.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Develop assortments and replenish store inventory for maximum turnover within budget and procedure guidelines.

Develop purchase orders and assist with processing all paperwork accurately within company standards.

Assist with store sales, receiving, presentation, and other store duties as required.

Maintain excellent vendor relationships; facilitate vendor meetings in order to stay abreast of new developments in products important to Banyan Pilot Shop.

Solicit sales, provide customers with quotes, and assist customers within the store.

Maintain appropriate inventory levels for store and pilot shop website by forecasting trends and utilizing reports.

Perform daily cycle counts and make appropriate inventory adjustments.

Assist in ensuring that items ordered are checked at receiving and placed in stock or issued to a direct sale.

Maintain regular communication with accounting and receiving to monitor the flow of paperwork to ensure smooth and accurate reporting.

Assist in preparing guidelines for normal levels of stocked parts and shop supplies to ensure automatic recording.

Enter and maintain all vendor price updates. Ensure all products are priced within margin requirements.

Coordinate with pilot shop management in planning, implementing and ordering for pilot shop tradeshows and events

Monitor inventory levels for pilot shop website, work with IT to develop reports for website as needed, collaborate with marketing to ensure products are listed online with accuracy.

Play an active role in sharing ideas with the pilot shop team in regards to promotions and new product

Assist outside sales personnel when required sharing parts knowledge to best serve the customer.

Communicate with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.

Follow and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.

Follow all safety rules and wear/use all appropriate safety equipment.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

To be fully proficient in this position, teammates must possess and/or acquire the following through on-the-job training:

A strong knowledge of Banyan's customers and service philosophy,

A strong knowledge of Banyan's vendors,

Complete knowledge and understanding of the Banyan Team Handbook,

Excellent communication skills – both oral and written,

A strong knowledge of parts invoice forms,

A strong knowledge of retail math,

A strong knowledge of aviation parts and travel related merchandise,

A strong knowledge of purchase orders,

A knowledge of the operation and care of all receiving equipment and tools,

A knowledge of Ft. Lauderdale Executive Airport including the location of hangars, tie-downs, fuel farm, tower, US Customs, and all other FBOs located at the airport,

Knowledge of the departments of the company, their function, and their personnel,

Knowledge of responsibility for facility and security and all aspects of safety,

Knowledge of the computer system and software,

Knowledge of responsibility for:

1.   Customer billing and payment

2.   Vendor invoicing and payments

3.   Employee relations

4.   Items remaining and the condition in which uncompleted items were communicated.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma or the equivalent and a minimum of five years in dealing with inventory and purchasing. Experience with ecommerce sales platforms is a plus. Aviation experience required.
