The Regional Sales Manager will be responsible for generating revenue and profitability growth through new business acquisitions and expansions involving an existing portfolio of customers.  The individual will focus on enhancing strategic customer relationships in an effort to gain competitive market share in the Van market space.   The individual must be entrepreneurial in nature, comfortable in a cold calling environment and have a high degree of autonomy in order to generate results from prospecting activities.  The individual is responsible for understanding market trends and customer strategy development in order to differentiate ATS Inc. as the premier transportation partner of choice in the industry.  The individual will work closely with Operations and Customer Service to ensure value-added products and services are sold in the market.

Education and Experience

  1. Higher education (i.e. two- or four-year degree) in related area and/or two to three years of training in related area and/or equivalent experience in a sales driven environment.

  2. A good understanding of sales, marketing, customer service principles and operations usually gained through 1-2 years of training in related area and/or equivalent related experience.

  3. Experience in transportation industry preferred.

  4. Self-starter with strong entrepreneurial spirit and a drive for growth.

  5. Comprehension of sales, marketing, and customer service and operations responsibilities in a supply chain/transportation environment preferred.

  6. Proven experience making cold calls to close business.

  7. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required.

  8. Strong communication skills (written, listening and verbal).

  9. Strong negotiation skills to ensure sales agreements and contracts are executed with accuracy..

  10. Must be able to adapt with high work volumes in a fast-paced environment by demonstrating patience, professionalism, and positivity.

  11. Willing and able to travel infrequently, including overnight travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Prospects new customers in an assigned region and line of business using various research methods and internal/external resources.

  2. Attracts, retains and grows qualified customer base by providing excellent customer service with timely solutions.

  3. Strategic and tactical pricing comprehension, development and administration in a supply chain/trucking-based environment.

  4. Negotiates terms of sale agreements and contracts from inception through execution and ensures accuracy throughout.

  5. Ability to support the lead-to-cash process from prospecting through revenue collection.

  6. Works directly and communicates effectively with Operations and Customer Service to ensure prospects and customers bring value to ATS, Inc.’s network and strategies for goal realization.

  7. Continually strengthens and enhances the customer base through follow-up to secure best-in-class relationships.

  8. Makes sales presentations and travels as required to customer locations.

  9. Responds rapidly to customers’ requests with solutions to challenges.

  11. Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours and infrequent travel may be required.
