RF Technician - Mobile Upfitter - Journeyman - Wenatchee
Day Wireless Systems, a Motorola authorized full service two-way radio and wireless communications dealer, seeks a qualified and experienced Two-Way Radio Technician to install, repair, align and maintain two-way radio communication systems in our Wenatchee, WA location.
Under the general supervision of the Service Manager the Journeyman Radio Technician performs system design, troubleshoots, programs, and installs radio equipment and systems. This position is also responsible for optimizing, maintaining, and repairing 2-way and wireless communications systems including complex radio systems and 911 communications centers for customers. Successful candidates will be motivated, customer service oriented and professional in appearance.
Must be open to installs in vehicles as well.
- Install and provide technical support for VHF/UHF and 800/900 MHz analog and digital systems, mobile and portable subscriber equipment, simulcast, conventional, trunked radio systems, dispatch consoles, paging infrastructure, and microwave systems.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, discuss, and resolve wireless communication equipment questions and problems with customers in a positive and efficient manner in person on customer’s site or at Day Wireless Systems’ shop location.
- Diagnose and repair public address systems and BDA systems.
- Analyze and comprehend diagnostic test results in order to repair and program radios and wireless equipment.
- Work with customer to determine deadlines, urgency, timeline, and schedule for completing repairs.
- Prepare quotes and bids.
- To properly support our public safety and first responder customers, technicians will be required to be on call, which includes overtime with little or no notice.
Experience and Certifications:
- The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in the radio and communication area, extensive knowledge/understanding of two-way radio theory and communications systems.
- Experience with Motorola ASTRO or P25 is highly desirable
- The ability to program, troubleshoot and perform system diagnostics on complex radio systems.
- Experience in diagnostics, repair, maintenance, program wireless communication equipment such as 2-way radios, transmitters, receivers, antennas for customers.
- Knowledge of battery backup systems, base satiations, repeaters, mulitcouplers and duplexers, basic networking skills.
- Candidates must possess clean driving record and valid driver's license.
- FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License, FCIA, NABER or equivalent industry certification a plus!
- ** Able to pass background check**
- **Clean Driving Record is required ** (Major infractions are a disqualifier. ex: DUI, any drug motor vehicle offence, hit & run, reckless driving infractions, driving while suspended, passing a stopped school bus, involvement in a fatal accident, or 3 or more minor infractions within 3 year period)
