Senior Electrical Design Engineer

RBC Medical Innovations seeks a Senior Electrical Design Engineer with experience developing and launching electromechanical products with a high level of hardware and software integration. This person will provide engineering experience to support the electrical design of our vast portfolio of medical devices. RBC’s medical products improve quality of life for patients every day.  Our innovative products are developed by experienced, multi-disciplinary teams and required a high level of hardware and software integration. We are adding a Senior Electrical Engineer to our 40+ engineering team to support the growth of our vast portfolio of medical devices.


  • Lead electrical engineering project teams to develop new and innovative medical devices
  • Be an active participant in our multidisciplinary project teams
  • Execute design iterations to create reliable and long-life products
  • Actively participate in development of medical devices from development to manufacturing
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to design engineers
  • Translate medical device compliance and regulatory requirements (such as IEC 60601) into product design

Desired Qualifications

  • BS Degree and 7+ years of experience or MS Degree and 5+ years of experience required
  • Leadership guiding a group of engineers in the development of complex products
  • Embedded system design to include:
    • Quick turn, early prototyping to prove product concepts
    • Work with software engineers for board bring up and system integration
    • Component selection for performance, compliance, and life cycle considerations
  • Full life-cycle implementation experience (Architect, design, schematic capture, layout, production transfer, manufacturing support)
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting to meet ESD/EMC requirements
  • Experience with analog and digital designs containing the following:
    • Microcontrollers
    • Isolated and non-isolated DC/DC converters
    • Handheld devices
    • Data communication interfaces
    • Sensors and instrumentation
    • Patient-connected instrumentation
    • Battery-powered devices
  • Experience in mentoring engineers
  • Experience in a fast-paced design iteration and optimization product development environment
  • Proficient in PCB design tools such as Altium Designer
