PURPOSE OF THE CLASSIFICATION:
Performs a variety of office work, ensuring compliance with the City inspections
licenses, regulations and regulatory permits; issues appropriate receipts,
licenses and/or permits to enforce municipal codes; and performs related work as
required.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
Answers telephones and gives information to callers, takes messages or
transfers calls to appropriate individuals.
PURPOSE OF THE CLASSIFICATION:
Responsible for the supervision and coordination of the inspections program to
secure compliance with municipal codes and ordinances and is responsible for
final approval of all plans and specifications. The Chief Building Inspector
is the “Building Official” referred to in all codes adopted by the City;

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
An employee in this class, as a law enforcement officer, enforces city
ordinances, state and federal laws. Performs those tasks and duties deemed
necessary by the Chief of Police or his designee in accomplishing the police
mission and achieving the goals of the Muskogee Police Department.
